About DebtDesk
DebtDesk is case-management software for South African debt mediation practices. It handles the practical work of mediation: client financials, creditor proposals, and allocating one client payment across several creditors.
It is not a general CRM adapted for local currency. It is built around the way mediation practices work here.
Why we built it
Most mediators rely on a general CRM and a collection of spreadsheets. The CRM holds the contacts; the spreadsheets handle affordability calculations, creditor proposals, and payment allocations.
That can work at first. As a practice grows, the manual steps take time and create more room for error.
We built DebtDesk alongside a working South African mediation practice to bring that work into one place. The aim is simple: reduce spreadsheet dependency, make everyday administration easier, and keep a clear record of how client money is allocated.
What we believe
-
Built around the workflow
Software should support the way mediators work, not force them to reshape their practice around a generic system.
-
Clear payment records
Payment allocations are calculated consistently and recorded clearly, making it easier to account for trust money.
-
South Africa first
South African Rand, ID-format checks, local creditor information, and POPIA-conscious data handling are built into the product.
-
Plain talk
We are clear about what mediation is and is not. DebtDesk does not present itself as something it isn't.
Where we stand on debt mediation
DebtDesk supports private, voluntary negotiations between consumers and creditors. This is distinct from debt review under section 86 of the National Credit Act.
DebtDesk does not conduct statutory debt review, create a court order, or provide the protections that apply to consumers in the debt-review process. It does not give a mediator or practice NCR registration or legal standing.
The legal position depends on how a mediation service is structured and what it does. Debt mediation should not be presented as a substitute for statutory debt counselling. DebtDesk is neutral back-office software, not legal advice.
We believe consumers are better served when mediators explain the process clearly and show how money is handled. DebtDesk is designed to make that easier.
